Things happen in life to test your patience, your resilience and generally show you what you are made of.
I came back to Grenada last Saturday (should have come on Friday but Air Ja cancelled the flight) and was not able to off load my suitcase in my flat. When I opened the door, this is what greeted me...

What the..............?
I've had flooding before. It's usually in the Kitchen. That was also flooded, but not completely. I looked through to the bedroom, and this shocked me...

Fortunately, I was scheduled to work that night and sleep in the hotel, in fact for three nights, so that was good. But even if I wasn't scheduled to work, I could have slept in the hotel.
Anyway, Sunday morning, I borrowed the wet vac and sucked out the water bit by bit, then mopped and mopped and mopped. If it was just water, it wouldn't be so bad, but with the mud, which had by now dried in other parts of the flat which were not so flooded, that was hard going.
I worked from 9:30am until about 6:30pm, taking a break for lunch. The man who looks after the house came to help for about 1.5 hours. There was heavy rains last week, everywhere was flooded. For my situation, apparently the drains where the water would have run was blocked so the water didnt have any where to go and found under my door to be a good place. I saw the mark of how high it reached. I would estimate about 8 - 9 inches.
Definitely a test of resilience.
Every year, I try to be in Jamaica for my birthday because it needs to be spent with family.
After the gym this morning, I went to the 'Guyanese' doctor. When I asked him to look on the date of birth on my information sheet, he wished me happy birthday, went to the pharmace and got me chocolate and starburst, then called in one of the Receptionists to join him in singing Happy Birthday to me. I like all these goofy things. Then it was business thereafter, poking and prodding.
Next was to the hairdresser to get my hair cut short. I like it. Kinda like a Tami Chynn hair cut.
Later in the night, it was dinner at home. Normal food but made special with the parents, siblings and the Nephew.
Great day.
I don't know why, but I feel very blah.
Not in the mood to do work, not in the mood to exercise dilligently, not in the mood to do.
No, I am not depressed. I am not in the mood for that either!
I am sure it's just hormones or something. Maybe I need some cake. My niece came up from boarding school tonight and said "Aunty Yamfoot, how come you are in the house and there is no pastry???"
THAT is how blah I feel, clearly.
Will be on The Rock for two weeks. It was supposed to be shorter, but I need to do some medical tests to find out what di #&^@^ is wrong with me. It's probably nothing serious.....hopefully!
Remember the important date is 22nd. Got the blog back in time so you all can wish me happy birthday!
I can't believe I have been watching Paris Hilton's reality show on MTV, my BFF or it might be my new BFF.
Anyway, I heard about it when she was on Letterman the same night with Usain. What a blonde she is, but maybe that is a show.
There was a Jamaican girl on the show. She got voted off in the second week. It airs every Tuesday on MTV. If you want something light to watch, watch that.
Well, I was off the radar for a while.
And now I'm a dot net instead of a dot com.
Different address.....same blog.
