(and they won't stay up for many days)
Should I get contact lenses? I've worn glasses since I was 6. I am now 40. Do the math. I got a pair of contacts when I was about 22 or so....I remember wearing them while I was in Nassau at school, but only one day per 6 months because they never felt comfortable. When I went to work in Grenada, I wore them all of 4 hours at work one night.
When I went back to the opthal-doc in October, she said when I come in December she will have a trial pair for me. But ah dunno....is so much trouble. Is it worth it? (Mad Bull....the "no-face-cut-out-photos" are especially for you" but of course you know they will soon disappear!)
YOU'RE TOO LATE!
Posted by yamfoot at November 28, 2006 07:52 PMyou are fine with or without them. However, the fro needs some trimming.
Posted by: Andrew at November 28, 2006 08:28 PMYou look fine both ways. Just try them out with the trial pair, they have become very, very light over the last 15 or so years.
I have worn contacts for the last 20 years, and you can't beat the peripheral vision. If I could afford the lasik surgery, I would get it right away. Good luck with your choice.
Posted by: Remnants at November 28, 2006 10:50 PMI feel your pain. I wore glasses from age 6. From I have been wearing contacts since age 16. Puberty and glasses never mix for me. Today, almost 15 years later I never leave my house in my specs. My doc is now telling me I wear them too much and insisting that I include some stylish frames in my repatoire [sp]. I dunnoo..
All in all contacts are more comfortable now.. i say try em. Always good to have options. Might I suggest a pair of square turtleshell frames to update your look.. u have a great face by the way! :)
I've been wearing contacts for over a decade. The disposable ones are fantastic; I don't feel them at all once they're in my eyes, and I even sleep in them. They're much thinner than the non-disposables.
Posted by: Carol Laz at November 29, 2006 05:05 AMoonu dont know that my eyes are really really bad. One eye is - 8.25 and the other is - 9.00 or thereabouts. Blind Bartimus! So the actual lens are thicker than the average person.
I know somebody too who has been wearing them for years and the doctor has put her back into glasses. So IS, try the glasses a couple days a week nah! for your eyes sake.
Posted by: Michelle at November 29, 2006 05:22 AMWikid, Michelle! I'd say go for the contacts, try them out. You look good both ways though.
Posted by: mad bull at November 29, 2006 06:42 AMI have really bad eyes as well, and also have a stigmatism. Which meant I have been wearing glasses since i was 16 MONTHS old. I was finally allowed to get contacts when i was 22 - before then they didn't make them for my prescriptions. And I love them. It's great to be able to take on and off sunglasses, scratch my nose and see all around. But I do make sure to wear my glasses sometimes as well!
Posted by: Kingston Girl at November 29, 2006 08:53 AMGreat photos M. You know me.....I think contacts are just too much trouble. There are some fantastic looking glasses out there. I know a lady who had three fabulous pairs...all designer frames so she would wear one according to her moods and outfits. Accessory fi tru!
Posted by: g at November 29, 2006 10:03 AMhmmm I like the bare eyes look. How about lasik surgery on the eyes so you dont have to wear contacts or glasses? :-)
Posted by: larr at November 29, 2006 11:49 AMI love glasses..no contacts for me.So am inclined to vote for glasses
Posted by: kami at November 29, 2006 05:12 PMU know I'm scared stiff of my love for pepper and the "sticking the pepper finger into my eye" thing so I won't wear them, but u don't have those issues missy so just go for it!It can't hurt.
Posted by: Sis at November 29, 2006 06:20 PMYou decide, both ways look good.
Posted by: Dr. D. at November 29, 2006 06:30 PMYou look younger with the contacts. Try and get used to them. Its not easy, I have tried too a few times.
Posted by: De Immigrant at November 29, 2006 08:52 PMHey Mich, have you tried lasik treatment, I'm toying with doing my eyes next year, I feel your pain regarding contacts, I too cannot get on with them, they are too much work, and the possibility of infection is greater.
So to answer your question, you look good either way, the bigger question is lipstick or no lipstick........I go for lipstick. Do the research on lasik treatment, the prices are not too far from contacts now, I think I will do my eyes since the technology is so far advanced now and the early kinks have now been overcome.
oh, you are so pretty
and you look cute with the glasses
I don't know--my vision is perfect
However I cannot imagine the pain of having to deal with blurry vision if something happened to my glasses/contacts
I'm with the ppl who suggest considering lasik
Wear a more modern pair of glasses sometimes, and contacts at other times.
Posted by: Kelly at November 30, 2006 12:54 PMLook dear...i tell yuh the damn glasses mek yuh eyes sink into yuh face. Time to reverse the process. now all those who advocate lasik, bwoy...i dunno. I know ppl who have done it, and one had starburst vision for a looong time...didnt go well. I dont want to be that guy. I have been wearing contacts for 15 years now, and its a part of me. I can't say that I have ever had cause to complain. I dont even feel the bloody things in my eye, even tho i don't wear disposables. yeah the pepper thing is an issue, but once you know the deal, you just don't play like dat. And yuh hand should be washed clean clean before u put it in yuh eye anyway!!! I cut up seasoning using surgical gloves, just to minimise the pepper in the eye risk, and its never been a problem. So...all in all...Yammie....go wid the contacts, you can't beat the glamour of presenting your face to the world without the visual 'noise' of glasses. Go for it!!!
Posted by: Patch at November 30, 2006 01:08 PMMichelle girl love the cute pics thanks for posting them you have a great smile too.
i don't know i think i like the contacts better you have nice eyes and the glasses distract from them..its just my opinion.
I prefer you without the glasses.
Posted by: Gela at December 1, 2006 04:04 AMboth.....thats what i do...
and u look very nice in your glasses and out....
I have a pair of glasses that I hardly wear, just can't get used to it. I am considering contacts myself, but I don't know if I can get over the fear of putting something in my eye.
You can have both, contacts for when you go out, and glasses for ordinary stuff.
Posted by: Stunner at December 2, 2006 01:36 PMU look nice both ways. Ah like de 2nd-to-last pic (1st pic, 2nd row) -- U look like mi cousin in NY (she wears glasses too). Then again, ah like de 3rd pic top row -- it shows off your nose more & your eyes. Your smile shines thru with or without. Am astonished that U finally admit to bein' a pretty woman, after all this time U spent on de blog sayin' negative things about your own weight an' it leads people in de opposite direction. Forty really gree wid yu.
Posted by: Melody at December 3, 2006 07:48 PMMichelle
You look good with or without the glasses. When I turned 40 my Opti also suggested contacts but after wearing glasses since I was 6 (is there a pattern here?)I couldnt be bothered. Here's what I suggest contacts for limin and dress up occasions, glasses all other times.
OO
Hi Miche,
I own and although I have worn them very rarely, I like to know that they are there when I want a change of look. Specs are miles easier to go with. Fab pics.
Posted by: Gwyneth at December 7, 2006 07:33 AMContacts......nuff said!
Posted by: Karen G at December 7, 2006 10:23 AMGet the contacts, and a trim and you will be one HOT babe.
Posted by: Safari at December 7, 2006 10:40 AMHotti-hotti pictures without the glasses! Get the contacts (once they are comfortable), and wear the glasses occasionally.
Posted by: Basil at December 7, 2006 11:13 AMSafari, you mean I am not a hotti hotti now????
*shocked*
My bad, You will be a HOTTER Babe!!
Posted by: Safari at December 8, 2006 11:19 AMMichelle - I personally think yo ulook fine just the way you are. I cannot wear contacts myself as they irritate my eyes. Perhaps you could use them for special occasions when you go out but stick with the glasses at work.
