Arrived safely in St Kitts

BWIA was early from Bimshire, but LIAT was late from Antigua. No worries. I sat in the airport in Antigua and read the newspapers. Crime taking over. Four armed roberies in one week. WOW, that's such a LOT!!! (read: sarcasm). But I supposed when you are not accustomed to it, four does seem a lot. And when they say armed, they mean with guns. Not cutlasses or knives.

Here in St Kitts on the news tonight, was the story of the murder last night of an off duty policeman - 29 years old and had 10 years in the force. He was shot 6 times....I guess somebody really wanted him dead. Then there was another story of a businessman hearing gunshots outside his business place. He goes out to investigate and sees men on top of one of them shipping containers, firing after some men on the ground. Real cops and robbers type thing. No one seemed to have been hurt. Probably they need target practice!

But it is generally safe here. Right now, my hosts are sitting outside on the patio with some friends. The front door has been open all day. Same thing in Bimshire. Door open all day, all night. It's lovely. Really lovely.

For the Jamaicans who read this blog, I say to you instead of running to the 'great' USA etc, take a Caribbean holiday. It's really interesting to see how different these islands all are. I have been to....

Antigua, Barbados, St Maarten, Tortola, St Thomas, St Lucia, St Vincent, Dominica, Bequia, Grenada, Trinidad, Bahamas (New Providence), St Kitts and Nevis, and it's really so wonderful to see these jewels.

And in St Kitts, until December 23rd, you can pay US$89 per room, plus 19% tax/service charge and stay in the 900 room Marriott Hotel & Casino. The airfare from Kingston to St Kitts not that much. It's really a shame that we don't take more Caribbean holiday.

I was looking in the LIAT inflight magazine today and marking off my next stops - Anguilla and the French islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe. My aim is to see all the islands, even if it is just for a day.

True what you say 'bout Caribbean holidays.

But, you know how Jamaicans saty....we tned not to think of the rest of the Caribbean as 'foreign'. To us that means 'Merica, canada and the U.K.

BTW...LIAT actually has an in flight magazine!? :-0
