Well wha d'you know...the magazines help!

If you add up how much money I have spent on magazines in my lifetime, I'm sure it would come to a small fortune. I discovered magazines when my sister went to the States for college and she brought back Shape and I think it was Self. Of course, every holiday that she came home, she got a list with magazines on it to buy for me (no I didnt pay her back!).

I hardly read the Cosmos, or Glamour or those kinds now. Strictly Fitness, Shape, Hers Muscle & Fitness, Self, Oxygen, things that have a fitness focus.

In those magazines, you always have exercises and usually, before I throw out the magazines, I tear out the pages with exercises that I've never tried before. I can refer to them before going to the gym, to get an idea for a new exercise.

Up until about 3 weeks ago, I'd never used the standing squat machine to do a squat. I have a slight problem with my left knee and I felt that would make it worse.

But in an issue of Oxygen that I bought recently, it said that squats and lunges were the two best exercises to get a perky butt, and since that is a goal, then I got on the machine. Mark was the instructor who showed me what to do.

This evening at the gym, on only about my 4th time on this machine, Orlando, another instructor who was a top body builder in his time, was waiting on me to finish as he had a client to put on the machine after me.

He said to her, "watch this lady and see if you can try and copy what she is doing". As I squatted, he said to her "you see that, that's a perfect squat, you see how she goes down low, then uses her glutes to come back up, that's a perfect squat".

Lawks mi did feel sweet yuh si! My money has not been spent in vain.

Re magazines.... me stop buy. Get way outta line in the price dept. And furthermore they only add to the clutter that is my room. Really need to do a serious clean up and dash weh!

yes, getting rid of the clutter also helps to clear you mind.

If you have a few friends who read what you like, (and don't rip the pages out)you could try a magazine 'partner plan'. Everybody buys one and then circulates when finished.
I don't buy books too often but I usually have something to read; loans from friends and family. Why keep the book if you dont intend to read it again? (Gets rid of clutter)
