Lazy day

I'm allowed. I'm on holiday remember?

Got up, made breakfast cause I bought eggs yesterday and cheese, so made a sardine and cheese omelette courtesy of the oil brought for me in a Gerber bottle. They should sell essential things like these in miniature sizes so if you're here only for a couple of days then you don't have to buy a big ole container. Thanks again Brigitte.

Next stop was the Immigration office to extend my stay, now that I had a return ticket in hand. The officer asked what was the reason for the extension. "To enjoy more of your beautiful island". No more questions asked. Then he tells me that he has been to Jamaica (Kingston) and that for all the talk outside about how bad Kingston is, he didn't see it. I agreed with him and told him that you just had to know which areas to stay out of. He said he went to some of those areas and he still didn't see anything. Great. We have one more supporter.

Got dropped at Spice. Checked my e-mail, then walked to 'THE' mall and browsed the stores before buying some bananas (to get things moving) and a newspaper. Then my stomach said it was time for lunch. I considered Bamboo Village. Nah.....when you eat chinese food, in two two's you hungry again. My choice? Curlita's stall at the Grand Anse Campus of St George's University.

The great thing about countries where the exchange rate is stable, is that prices remain the same. So lunch is still EC$10.00. Bought pork, and cow heel soup (Friday is soup day there). Walked back to where I am staying, ate the pork, drank a Ting, took two sips of the soup and decided I would eat that this evening. Fell asleep in front of the tv (I said it was a lazy day init) then remembered Oprah.

She had the new Miss America on and some other people (91 million dollar lottery winner etc) who were talking about the moment that changed their life. Then I did the self talk.

"Michelle, you should really go and exercise you know - either swim or walk or do the gym".
"Lawks but I feeling so tired"
"Yes, but you're fat, git up off your butt and get moving"
"OK, I'll just exercise for a lil bit"
"Good girl"

So out of the hotel I go, only to see the owner driving out. He stops, hitches a reverse and gives me some really grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat news. You see how people who are not aliens behave? Boy I am telling you, life is good.

Walked around the stretch, then headed to the gym at Spice, where there was an American couple working out and watching some American Halloween live show. Can't see what all the fuss is about Halloween. Oh well, I'll have to get used to it. They left about 20 minutes after and then I had the gym to myself.

Did 10 minutes on the treadmill, 10 minutes on the bicycle and only a little bit of arm work. Really feeling lazy today. I guess it was the peas and rice I had with the pork? You think? Me thinks. Or maybe the chocolate I had afterwards (Chocolate is good for you init? Well so I have read).

Now I am heading back over and maybe I'll catch the sports news, then maybe I'll go to the 'cinemawr'. I'll decide later. Boy this is a great feeling. Having no plans and being able to do what I want.

Tomorrow morning, it's Breakfast at Tiffany's (only her name is Brigitte) and then who knows?

Me soon gone on leave as well. Tuesday me going conference in Aruba and then Sunday me flash out from there to Ft. Lauderdale.

Agree with you bout Halloween. When I was a child growing up, it did not form part of Jamaican life, and none o my pickney will be tekking part in it (if I ever have any). This evening to my gall when I am driving into me area, me see a posse of bout 15 pickeny wid three adults behind dem, everybody inna costume, claim seh dem going trick or treating. Well, dem better don't knock on my door, they would not be getting any treat here.

We have adopted too much of what goes on in America....and a lot more of the bad than the good.

Gwaan enjoy you holiday.

When you do not have a job it can't be called a 'holiday'. It is called 'unemployment'.

Great! Finally you are exercising. Can't say the same for myself. Maybe I need to have the talk:)

Keep it up but be careful with the rice and pork.

Were these meals 'small' portions? How slowly are you trying to lose weight.....chocolate? Exercise: 10 minutes is better than none. How about changing the ratio, food portions (small): (large)exercise 'portions'.(Joke)
Did 30 minutes walk at Emancipation park yesterday. I spent my Gym money on books and 2 mats for my bedroom, so I am trying to walk at least 3 times per week so that I can convince myself that I can do it on my own.

Michelle ... you're supposed to be setting a good example to your elders ... especially other SHHSers .... when I read your exercise "English" tales ... I was really inspired ... I was really working up to that exercise moment .. and then .... WHAT??!!!! BLAM!!! 25 minutes ... I need more than that for my cholesterol.

By the way ... Zicks has returned from wht he terms "the oft grey land ..." he's returning home ... the boy claims he needs sea and sun ... yu t'ink 'im t'ink 'im is turis'??!!!

Love .MA

Ok, I guess we all get some private email on the grrrrrrrrreat news from the GM huh huh huh????? Yes, I too am on leave, soon to be looking to other pastures (not the one I reside in,ha ha) perhaps unemployed too, as Gwyneth so rightly says..I guess it's all a matter of perspective eh? I prefer the "holiday", "trying to find myself" perspective. Waiting for grrrrrrreat. Ease up on the chocolate..too much of a good thing...
