When I was in high school, a friend of mine had beautiful nails which would grow just like that. Me now used to struggle, and in fact I couldn't have long nails because of the endless piano lessons I used to take (15 years!). When I asked my friend how she got her nails to be so long and strong, she said she ate a lot of sardines, including the bone.
We used to get sardine sandwiches in high school, but still no long nails for me, probably because Pops used to take out the bones! Anyway, earlier this year, I decided to shift from eating Oats porridge ("your Oats ARE ready!") to sardine or mackerel for breakfast. Still no nail growth.
Now all of a sudden, I have long nails. Hear them click, click, click as I pound out these notes on the keyboard. I continued the sardine eating habit when I first came down the islands, then I started to feel ill, so switched to an Omelette. I know egg shells have calcium which are supposed to be good for nails, but I haven't got any shells in the omelettes I have had.
So that's another question you all have to answer. Why are my nails growing? Don't get me wrong you know....I'm not complaining. Just want answers....typical of my curious nature.
Posted by yamfoot at October 2, 2003 11:38 PMWell I have never known any living human being whose nails DON'T grow. Matter of fact I heard that when you're dead your hair and nails continue to grow for quite some time. That is why in the horror movie genre, the cadavers that manage to get out of their crypts are usually depicted with long claw like finger nails and long unkempt hair. Even though they may have been elaborately coiffed and manicured for their burial. however I digress, you may have been a habitual nail nibbler, hence the lack of growth.
however, congratulations on the new growth and when time comes to paint them might i recommend shell pink? :-)
Posted by: larr at October 3, 2003 05:08 PMWe don't know why your nails have started growing still, but I was always taught that you NEVER look a gift horse in the mouth, you zimi?

nah, i will continue the sardines.
Mishi!!
Yu living in a blasted hotel!!! When last you wash a dish! (much less pots, pans, scrub wan tailit!????)
Your nails will not break if you keep them out of water. If you want to keep them when you become a "mere mortal" again, just make sure you keep a coat of nail polish on them, to keep the water out! (I like Mr. L's taste in colors)
On another note - why am I tortureing myself with this masters!!!! Argh.
Sorry I missed to HD experience -
Posted by: Miss P at October 12, 2003 01:08 PMmiss P, you right in trute! but i wash mi undies, and of course I bathe every day, so your theory needs some re-working.
but i dare say, the living in a hotel thing and not having to do the domestics is sure a plus!
